Binder Privacy Options

Your options to guaranteeing that only the right people have access to your binders.

Each binder (both free and paid) you create using LiveBinders is automatically granted a unique URL address that you can then share with others. But that’s not the only way you can control who sees your binders.

The 4 Privacy Options For Your Free LiveBinders Account

  1. Public-Copyable: Anyone with the URL can view your binder, and those with a LiveBinders account can make a copy of it. This is often used for sharing templates that others may want to use. However, if you mark certain files within your Public binders as Private, they won’t be accessible to those who have the binders’ URLs – even if they make a copy of it.
  2. Public-Copy Disabled: Anyone with the URL can view, but not copy your binder –  even if they have a LiveBinders account. However, if you mark certain files within your Public binders as Private, they won’t be accessible to those who have the binders’ URLs.
  3. Private-Copyable: To grant anyone access to this binder, you need to share with them not only the binder’s URL but also a private access code. Once granted, if they have a LiveBinders account, they can make a copy of your binder.
  4. Private-Copy Disabled: To grant anyone access to this binder, you need to share with them not only the binder’s URL but also a private access code. However, even if they have a LiveBinders account, they can’t make a copy of it – the binder is view only.

Disclaimer: Public binders created within free LiveBinders accounts aren’t searchable or SEO-optimized. This means that they won’t show up in search engine results if searched for and can only be accessed through the shared URLs. If you want your public binder to be searchable, please fill in this application.

  3. Unlisted-Copy Disabled: Anyone with the URL can view your binder, but they won’t be able to make a copy of it – even if they have a LiveBinders account. However, the binder won’t show up in public search results (neither LiveBinder search results nor search engine results).

The 2 Privacy Options For Your Team Subscription LiveBinders Account

Team members who are part of a Team/Group Subscription Plan have 2 more private access options. Team-marked binders are found on the Team Shelf located on the left dashboard.

  1. Team-Copyable: Team members can view and copy your binder on the Team Shelf without needing to request it. You can also choose to share the binder’s URL with people outside your team, but you’ll need to assign them a private access code. This will also grant them copy access if they have a LiveBinders account.
  2. Team-Copy Disabled: Team members can view your binder on the Team Shelf, but they won’t be able to make a copy of it. You can also choose to share the binder’s URL with people outside your team, but you’ll need to assign them a private access code. This will only grant them view access.

Disclaimer: Team binders won’t show up in public search results (neither LiveBinder search results nor search engine results).
