Digital Binders: How High School Students Use LiveBinders to Access Algebra Resources Anytime
By Tina Schneider

We received a request from a teacher who wanted to see video examples of how students could benefit from using LiveBinders. In this blog post, we’ll share a video demo featuring a binder created by a high school Algebra teacher who uses LiveBinders to organize AP resources for her students.
This binder became a valuable resource that students continue to revisit as they work through class units. The example illustrates how, in many of today’s high school classrooms, students are being asked to take greater ownership of their learning. With that independence comes the need for structured, easy-to-navigate resources — especially in content-heavy subjects like Algebra.
This is where LiveBinders became a game-changer for the teacher. She needed to support students through challenging concepts but wasn’t always available outside of class time. During the pandemic, for example, she recorded herself working through problems— just as she would on a whiteboard. By adding those clips to her binder, students could still benefit from her instruction even when she wasn’t physically present— with the added advantage of being able to review those clips as many times as they needed.
Instead of scattering files across folders or links, her binder served as a centralized digital hub — with lessons, videos, practice sets, and support materials all in one location that students could easily bookmark and return to. Our binders are designed with student usability in mind, making it easier for them to stay on track and succeed independently.
Why Students Keep Coming Back to the Binder
What makes LiveBinders so effective for high school students is the way it blends structure with flexibility:
- Tabs and sub-tabs group content by unit or topic, so students always know where to look.
- Text frames are used to add context — offering directions, explanations, or reminders that help students navigate the material on their own—🔖My personal favorite in her binder.
- Recorded video walkthroughs give students a chance to review problem-solving methods at their own pace, as often as they need.
This format doesn’t just deliver content — it guides students in how to use it. That’s critical in subjects like Algebra, where practice and review are essential, and where students may need to revisit earlier concepts to move forward.
Real Example: Reviewed in Our Video Walkthrough
Please check out our video below. What stood out in the review:
- Every assignment is supported with commentary explaining its purpose.
- Supplemental materials are clearly labeled and easy to access.
- Video recordings of worked-out problems are embedded right alongside written explanations.
- Students are reminded throughout that the binder is there to help them master the content — and that everything they need is already included.
This binder isn’t just a collection of resources. It’s a virtual extension of the teacher’s voice and presence, helping students stay focused and confident, even when working independently.
One Link, All Year Long
Students only need one LiveBinders link — which doesn’t change — to access everything. Whether they’re catching up on a missed lesson, reviewing for an exam, or preparing for the next level of math, they have 24/7 access to a complete, thoughtfully organized learning environment.
Even after the course ends, students often return to these binders to review Algebra foundations as they take on more advanced coursework.
