This Live Binder includes information on policy actors in the state of Texas. The reference notebook consists of the following sections:
Information about the governor, his/her staff, any staff people especially involved in education policy, and major positions the governor has taken on education;
Information about the state legislature, including the Speaker of the House, Senate President, education committees in both houses, finance committees in both houses, your school district's representative(s) and senator, and major educational issues in the legislature;
The commissioner of education and his role;
The State Board of Education, including a list of the members and their role in education policy and the person(s) who represents your district;
The State Department of Education and their assigned roles;
Educational interest groups and whom they represent;
Major non-educational interest groups which seek to influence education policy;
Titles of publications and other sources that carry information on the state educational policy process.
