World Language Unit Plan Exemplars
These unit plan exemplars were created by world language teachers around NYS to support the transition to the revised New York State (NYS) Learning Standards for World Languages. Teachers may use them to guide the development of their own thematic unit plans. The exemplars were reviewed and selected as quality examples of unit plans that reflect the priorities of the revised NYS Learning Standards for World Languages. These priorities include thematic unit design, functional Can-Do statements with acceptable evidence for each learning standard, integration of authentic resources, and vocabulary and grammar in support of communication and culture learning. While the learning standards are established at the state level, the curricula through which students will achieve those standards are left to the individual districts and schools.
