There is one aspect of technology that intrigues me. No matter the culture, people everywhere are fascinated by technology. There is something about its patterns that somehow seems very attractive, almost addictive, to our brains. Imagine if we could engage our students in the same way. Think about the enormous possibilities that unfold in front of us if our students stay absorbed and motivated for longer periods of time. Learning a foreign language requires a vast amount of thinking and repetition. Attention is the key. The day our students can listen, repeat, read, write, turn-in work, and receive meaningful, immediate feedback remaining focused, interested, and happily challenged; we will have found a way to accelerate and optimize foreign language acquisition.
