ESL Literacy Instruction Strategies
Throughout the course, students will collect 15 strategies that can be used during literacy instruction to support ESL students for use within a classroom. All strategies are to be typed and cited with clear directions for implementation within the classroom setting and how it will support English Language Learners in the classroom. The notebook must have these components:
Title
Summary
When to use
Steps
Modifications
How strategy supports ELLs
Citation
The notebook should be organized in a way that is easy for you to reference to identify specific strategies according to your instructional purpose. The strategies you find must come from a variety of sources (you can use the textbook or websites as resources but do not take more than a few strategies from any one source).
Some ideas for a starting off point:
teaching phonics/phonemic awareness/decoding
vocabulary development strategies
supporting reading comprehension
writing strategies
