New Sound, Same Mind
The majority of music ever produced has been created with the assistance of live musical instruments such as the violin, bass violin, and piano. These instruments would be used to celebrate happy moments, emphasize a key moment within a production, or mourn a lost loved one. However in the last half century, musicians and engineers have collaborated on how to produce musical sounds effects with rapidly changing technology. In today's music, musicians have discovered ways to reach desired frequencies to bring out certain emotions and even certain memories. Within this piece, I will analyze how the musical synthesizer works to produce certain sounds, what frequencies tap into what emotions, and whether the new age of music or the classically produced music does a better job at igniting those given emotions and behaviors.
