Teacher Toolkit for Examining and Integrating Global Perspective
This toolkit includes lesson plans and resources to support teachers in infusing global perspectives into their curriculum. It was designed specifically to support the work being done at Unionville Elementary School in Indiana, a school guided by a specific mission to explore the topics of Environment, Art, Resources, Technology, and Health (EARTH). However, many of the strategies and resources are generally applicable across many settings.
This toolkit was inspired by a month long Fulbright Hays Seminar in Iceland in the summer of 2021. I created the lessons based on my experiences in Iceland and through reflections on being a learner in a global classroom. This toolkit also includes some of the tools I used as devices for recording my new knowledge, creating projects, and reflecting on the setting in which I was immersed. This toolkit also includes resources for educators that I hope will encourage them to travel and to bring the world into their school and classroom.
