6,189 meter island peak was named by group of Eric Shipton’s in 1953 as the peak looks like an island in a sea of ice when we see from Dingboche. Again in 1953, the peak was named as Imja Tse. This climbing Island peak was tasted peak for preparation on the way to Everest expeditions by British team on 1953. Tenzing Norgey Sjerpa was one of the main members who successfully climbed on this peak. The Island peak is the part of south ridge of Lhotse Shar and main land form of semicircle of cliffs that rise to the north of the summits of Nuptsem Lhotse and Lhotse Shar. Cho polu and Makali mountain lies east side from Island climbing Peak. Baruntse, Amphu and Ama Dablam lie to the south.
