Alexandria Sentinel Book Club
Why Alexandria's Sentinel?
The Library of Alexandria was the greatest archive of knowledge circa 48 BCE. It was a universal library founded in 283 BCE, meaning, while other ilbraries in the areas of Syria, Asia Minor, Egypt, etc collected works only local or regional to maintain their own cultural heritage, the Greeks moved the idea into a much larger worldview. They sought books from cultures far and wide. The library was destroyed by a fire, but there are conflicting reports of who is responsible. Some blame Caesar, others Christians, and others Muslims. Do you see where this is going? This group is intended to be the guardians of the great library for social change, justice, resistance, and as informed warriors against persons' inhumanity to persons.
