Japan vs. the United States
World War II is a commonly taught unit in school today, and very popular among students. I created this binder to serve as a resource for my students when teaching the unit. I wanted to focus on perspective and understanding the major decisions made by both the U.S and Japanese governments. Students will be given historical background on both Japan's decision to attack Pearl Harbor and the U.S. decision to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Each section includes the content about the events and why each government made the decision to attack the other, as well as first hand accounts of each event. Students will participate in a role play activity where they have to determine what would they have done if they were each government and final debate about whether or not the atomic bombs should have been dropped.
