Culturally responsive literacy (CRT) is grounded in research that supports using students’ backgrounds, languages, and cultures. CRT is student-centered and affirms students’ identities. It is critical that CRT is used to help students from historically marginalized backgrounds to receive a fair and equitable education. This live binder contains research-based practices, strategies, and data to help me successfully implement highly effective CRT practices into my kindergarten classroom. Change must begin at even the earliest levels of education to close achievement gaps and combat systemic racism in education.
