Story: Kathy Beatty
I am the AAC Clinical Supervisor and Director of the AAC Mentorship Program at the Speech Pathology Group in Walnut Creek, CA. This is a twelve-month program that develops competency with up-to-date Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools and techniques. The mission of this program is to empower Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) to help nonverbal individuals find their own authentic voice.
I am delighted to say that LiveBinders has been the backbone of our AAC Mentorship Program! We have found LiveBinders to be a wonderful support system for those SLPs that wish to further their knowledge and skills in AAC. Here’s how:
We created a series of “binders” curated and organized with AAC templates, teaching videos, research, links, implementation ideas, etc.
These easily accessible binders are filled with evidence-based skills and assessment tools designed to evaluate areas of need and guide AAC decision-making.
All content is organized in one convenient location on our AAC Shelf that can be accessed online or via app from any personal device by participants.
New LiveBinders are shared with participants as each module or discussion topic is reviewed during the AAC Mentorship year.
We currently have eleven SPG AAC LiveBinders available for ongoing support and resources, with more in the works!
Top 5 reasons why I think LiveBinders rocks:
Easily accessible binders are filled with evidence-based skills and assessment tools designed to evaluate areas of need and guide AAC decision-making
Access to templates for funding reports, educationally-based assessments, and much, much more!
A way of collaborating with a network of SLPs dedicated to providing outstanding AAC services
An opportunity to learn about the complete spectrum of AAC devices and modalities with curated videos and links
After 40+ years in the field, LiveBinders has the contents of my years of experience and knowledge stored in one secure, accessible location. My brain thanks you!
