What is a binder?

A LiveBinder is a 3-ring binder for the web. A LiveBinder displays multiple web pages organized by tabs and subtabs. All you have to do is a click on a tab to view its page.

And it's quick and easy to create your own LiveBinders - to use and to share.

No plug-ins or downloads required.

LiveBinders works best with the browsers IE 6 and 7, FireFox 1.5 or higher and Safari 3.0.4.

Why use LiveBinders?

Have you ever tried to find a link in your bookmarks folder only to give up in frustration? Ever sent a group of links to someone? It's not easy, friendly or pretty. Bookmarks are great - till you need to do something with them. At LiveBinders, people can combine web links into their own binders simply and easily.

Here are some reasons to use LiveBinders:

  • combine different sources of information in one place - like all your child's soccer team schedules, rosters and forms
  • easily find and organize your information on your next work or school project
  • send a single binder instead of sending a bunch of links by email
  • embed LiveBinder icons on your website or personal homepage
  • drag your LiveBinder link to your desktop for easy access to your binder of links

What are tabs and subtabs?

Tabs and subtabs organize content in a binder. A binder can contain many web pages where each web page is represented by a tab. For example, a binder with 20 tabs has a total of 20 web pages inside. Clicking on a tab displays the web page.

A user can add more than one page to a tab by adding subtabs. Subtabs are just another layer of tabs in a binder, but can only be added to an existing tab. When you click on a subtab you open another page. Subtabs are located in the grey area underneath a selected tab.

How do I create a Binder?

Using the LiveBinder It bookmarklet tool you can create binders while you are browsing the web. Instead of putting your bookmarks in your 'Favorites' bookmark folder in your browser, you'll be adding them directly to a binder. See our video - 'How to create a binder' to learn more.
